We are demo-ing three rooms in our new house where we're doing a lot of work - what used to be the upstairs kitchen (that was demoed last weekend), the upstairs bathroom and the kitchen. It turns out that plaster is absurdly heavy, so we've rented a dumpster for all the debris. Because nothing is ever simple, the dumpster will not fit in our urban driveway, so today I had to navigate city bureaucracy and get a dumpster permit. Success! It took awhile (up to the 5th floor and wait and wait and wait and then down to the basement for a signature and then back to the fifth floor...) but at least I came away triumphant. So the dumpster arrives tomorrow!
Here is a before picture of the upstairs kitchen:

I will try to upload a "during" picture this weekend - the room is now just a shell! Next comes the new electric system, then capping off some plumbing, insulation, and sheet rock. Whew!
Also, last night Carlos and I bought a Frigidaire Gallery dryer that will be joining the lonely washing machine down in the basement. Hooray for Sears Outlet, that's all I have to say. :)
